Jackson, Thornburg, Murray collection [graphic], 1860s-1973 (bulk 1860s-ca. 1950s).

This collection is divided into seven series. The first series contains the Jackson photograph album of Civil War soldier portraits, etc. It consists of fifty photograph portraits. Most of the soldiers pictured were with the Ninth Cavalry 121st and include Col. George W. Jackson and Lt. Col. Eli Lilly. The second series contains the Effie Murray photograph album, ca. 1895. It consists of twenty-five cabinet card portraits, ten smaller portraits, an 1897 train ticket stub, and a newspaper obiturary of William Baxter Moyer (ca. 1918). The third series contains the Cora E. Jackson photograph album, ca. 1898. It includes nineteen cabinet card portraits, fourteen other small photographs, and four newspaper obituraries. The fourth series consists of identified portraits of the Jackson and Thornburg families, their relatives, friends, and neighbors. Most of the photographs are undated, but appear to range in date from the late 1800s to 1938. The fifth series contains unidentified portraits and other photographs. Most are portraits or show people attending events. There are seven photographs showing scenes from a military funeral, ca. 1917, along with a portrait of Opal and Oma Murray. There are five snapshots of campers and staff at Camp Carter in 1926. The sixth series contains artifacts. Included are: a metal frame from which a portrait of Basil Wadman (ca. 1900) was removed; a ration stamp book issued during WWII to the Gard family of Mooreland, IN; and a folded card of Atomic brand sewing needles (ca. 1950s). The seventh series contains ephemera. Among the contents are commencement programs from Lynn High School (1914) and from Wayne High School (1926) and printed photo cards of Lt. Gov. Crawford F. Parker and Gov. Harold W. Handley (ca. 1950s).
